I had the opportunity to go to the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion, part of Style Fashion Week @ the Vibiana in Los Angeles. One of the month of fashion events associated with LA Fashion Week. Gen Art paired up with humanitarian fashion brand Omnipeace to support their efforts against violence and poverty and for schools in the Congo and Somalia. Gen Art’ has an excellent track record of presenting well received fashion forward designers at their Fresh Faces shows. Among the most notable are Rodarte, Phili Lim, Zac Posen and more recently Gemma Kahng and Gretchen Jones.
Fresh Faces Spring 2013 looks to be another success.
The designers presenting were Crybaby Presents, Korovilas and Shaina Mote. All fabulous in their own right. Three studies of modernity.
Crybaby Presents showed lace shifts, collared dresses and patent leather skater skirts giving their simple slant a sweet disposition balanced by slicked tresses left lose in the back for a contrast to the darling clothes. Perhaps my favorite designer of the night was Korovilas. The dresses were absolute femme glory with a long lean silhouettes, flutter sleeves, strategically placed vertical fringe, structured lace and luminous metallic fabrics. How can I resist… Finally the designer who’s personal Style I most admired was Shaina Mote. She plays with the simplest modern silhouettes of an androgynous nature. High low woven tanks, and tees, crisp clean shirt dresses and voluminous pants make for easy fashionable dressing.
